to the Institute of Tamazight Studies (ITS) |

The Institute of Tamazight Studies (ITS) is a Not-for-Profit
research institute that represents a proper resource to researchers and/or
intellectuals who are involved/interested in the Tamazight social, political,
educational, cultural and/or academic affairs. The ITS aims to deliver
high quality research in various subjects via the WWW cyberspace using
e-Learning based platform and Internet infrastructure. The Tamazight studies
research is concerned with all aspects of the Amazigh culture, history
and modern life in North Africa/Tamazgha in general and Libya in particular
in terms of their language, heritage, values, political life, arts, poetry,
archaeology, music etc… Further information on these areas is to
be found under the respective links of our specialised research centres.
Increasingly, however, research topics cross across these clusters and
also make interdisciplinary connections.

| The proposed research programmes allow
people regardless their scientific background to study, learn and do research
(MRes) in any of the proposed subjects that are related to various areas
at their own pace in their own time. Also, we welcome and encourge those
who feel engaged in their daily life and commitments but are interested
in and deeply committed to doing research in any subject of the Tamazight
studies to join us. We accept final reports/theses to be written in any
of the four languages - Tamazight, English, Arabic or French. We work with
other institutions in the world and with industry and trying to build a
strong record in collaborative and interdisciplinary research, but convinced
that research remains central to our culture and strategy for our success
and in attracting external funding. |
We do not see research
as an isolated academic activity, but aim to shape our research agenda
and policy in this institute so to pro-actively address public and professional
needs in the Tamazgha/North africa region. All academic activities in
our institution are carried out by academics, researchers and professionals
who are committed to work in these areas, which have been some how ignored
for long time. We plan to fostering the research culture of the Institute
by sustaining our support for attendance at conferences nationally and
internationally and programmes of research seminars and workshops as appropriate
to each discipline.
ITS is committed to provide high quality research
to all people from all over the world however, we are interested in attracting
applicants from North Africa/Tamazgha and the Mediterranean region regardless
their ethnic origins, background and/or beliefs. Also, we would like to
invite all academics, researchers, volunteers and/or individulas who are
interested in Tamazight related issues/research to get in touch with us
for any future possible collaborations.

ITS Membership
By joining ITS you will
become a part of one of the first Tamazight studies and research institutions.
Membership of ITS demonstrates your commitment to both your own awareness of
any of the issues related to Tamazight such as culture, identity, history, modern
life, language, heritage, political life, arts, poetry, archaeology, music etc…and
the Tamazight research community's and societies development. ITS membership
sets you apart from other research bodies, giving you unusual recognition of
your involvement and experience in this still developing area. We encourge you
whether you are an academic, researcher, university student, or having an interest
in Tamazight studies to join ITS as belonging to such a new leading non-governmental
body for Tamazight research gives you access to an unrivalled range of services
such as research resources as well as benefits at every stage of our development
as we progress. Joining ITS is also the pathway to other ways of recognition
through various contacts, meetings and networking opportunities . Also, It's
about instant access to various research publications and documents. ITS will
invest heavily in developing and delivering effective and quality research work
that our members value and use.
